History
Adapted from the novel What's Eating Gilbert Grape by Peter Hedges , published in 1991 and adapted from the cinema in 1993 with Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead roles.
Gilbert, 24, lives in the fictional town of Endora, Iowa, and he never left. He cares for her mentally disabled younger brother Arnie and his obese mother became depressed. Working in a small grocery threatened by the arrival of a supermarket, he has an affair with a married woman but one day coming to town a young woman, Becky, who will take a liking to the two brothers.
